Selling Private Saves Me Commision

Interestingly enough many people who decide to sell privately have the same answer when asked why they chose to sell privately. The most common answer is, “to save the commission!”  Fair enough, and a seemly huge savings, in fact they are often told they can save 6% (we know this is an inflated number, but nevertheless  is still in the sales material of most private sale companies.)  Do you really save that much or anything at all?
